The idea of eating, drinking and playing a big new game is coming to the fast-changing parts of Wicker Park. Robert Thompson, founder of Denver-based Seasoned Development, signed an agreement yesterday to acquire a four-story building at 1348 Milwaukee Ave. Thompson plans to turn his 27,000-square-foot grounds into his adult playground, Punch Bowl Social, a 24-hour dining area, two cocktail bars, a tennis court, a ping pong and a private karaoke room. Open at the end of 2015.
A Massive “millennial Oriented” Playground, Diner, And Bar Is Opening In Ballston
Thompson, who owns Punch Bowl Socials in Austin, Portland, Denver and plans to open in Detroit, called the idea a “dream come true” that he had been trying to create since 2007. “It’s an honor” (Wicked Park) is a great neighborhood, he said.

The idea of the Punch Bowl Social is about getting the baby inside. In addition to the game, the updated menu features trendy snacks (chicken burgers, waffles, breakfast and lunch snacks). Beverage choices include a variety of glasses, classic cocktails, craft beers, fermented milk and coffee, fresh juices and sodas.
The fourth floor of Milwaukee Avenue will house the restaurant on the first floor and a bar, bowling alley, table tennis seats, karaoke lounge, lounge and private lounge on the second and third floors. Thompson does not know what to use the basement for. “I never thought I could put 27,000 square feet (Wicker Park) together,” he said.
Thompson’s team was drawn to Wicker Park rather than River North for its urban vibrancy and “not too commercial”. The building, a former furniture store, is currently under demolition and Thompson hopes to begin construction in May. His team will start designing next week.
